frequently asked questions

we’re here to make your wedding day easy.

If YOUR question isn’t listed here, please let us know!

How long have you been doing this for?

After a few years dabbling in various small businesses including graphic design, web design, photography + corporate videography, Requelle Aiken Wedding Films was conceived after we were married, and fell in love with our own wedding film in August 2019. I’ve always loved photography and videography, so when friends of ours asked us to film their wedding, we knew we wanted to capture more love stories and started creating wedding films.

What is unique about your work?

Our style of films and photography is considered a little bit dreamy, a little bit cinematic. We love a bit of mood and a bit of romance, but ensure the product we provide reflects you both as a couple, and your personalities, while staying true to our style. We are passionate about creating wedding memories that reflect this style. Our biggest piece of advice to couples is to shortlist your photographers and videographers based on their style, and then select your favourite based on your connection with them.

We don’t create fast-paced, high energy, star swipe films with pop music! Instead, we thrive on the raw, real emotion that is shared between couples and the celebration of those around you. We love to capture you, and your day, as it unfolds naturally, as if we’re friends hanging out on the best day of your life. We aim not to pose you, but simply provide enough direction (and maybe a joke or two) to encourage sweet moments and ensure you feel comfortable!

Can I change or customise your packages?

Of course! Our standard packages covers the needs of about 95% of our clients, but if you have something else in mind, please let us know - we’d be happy to work with you to create an offering personalised to you.

Is wedding videography worth it?

Hiring a wedding videographer is usually one of the first, or last things that couples fit into their wedding budgets - and it often tops the list of regrets when it didn’t make the cut. Having recently married my one and only, I can honestly say that I wouldn’t change a thing about our wedding day... unless I could slow down every moment and enjoy it just a little longer. Your wedding day goes by so, so quickly, and your wedding photos and film/s are both things that don’t end at the end of your wedding day. We might be bias, but I know one thing - I am so grateful to have a beautiful wedding film to look back on and relive those moments over and over again.

Do you offer drone footage?

We do offer drone footage & photography, however this depends on many factors on the day, including timings, weather, and venue/local restrictions on your wedding day.

Can we choose the music for our films?

Our highlight films and social media edits contain beautiful and unique tracks that are licensed through websites such as Musicbed. Music licenses represent legal permission to use a song for a particular project. With the appropriate license, the customer has full permission to use the song as per license guidelines. The music licenses we purchase for your film/s allow them to be safely shared online, and through social media, unlike those with unlicensed music, which have heavy copyright restrictions. If you need a copy of the license for your film, please just reach out.

Do you travel for weddings?

Our package pricing covers all weddings based within a 3 hour return trip from Brisbane CBD. Most of our weddings are based from the Sunshine Coast, down to the Gold Coast, and everywhere else in between. If you’re not sure if your location is included, let us know when you reach out! If travel is required, we are open to both domestic and international trips (restrictions allowing!) and would be happy to create a custom quote for you.

Do you offer photography + videography together?

We tend to specialise in either film or photography on your wedding day, however, we do offer personalised packages and can also recommend our favourite photographers + filmmakers to pair up with if you’re looking for a bigger team. As we are filmmakers at heart, we often partner up with photographers. AND if you’re looking for an amazing wedding photographer in the area, you seriously can’t go past Amy and Chris from About Time Co. This husband/wife duo shot our own wedding and we would recommend them any day of the week (literally!) If you’re looking for a combined photography and videography package, we do offer a combined package you might be interested in.

How many weddings do you take on?

As a small business, we do only take on a limited number of weddings each year. Generally this is around 15-25 weddings - this is our sweet spot! This allows us to get to know our couples on a more intimate level and give our wedding galleries and films all the love and attention they deserve. To avoid any disappointment, we recommend enquiring as soon as you connect with us, to ensure your date is available. For further details or availability, please contact us.

Can I see a copy of your contract?

Yes! Please contact us, and we can send you a copy of our contract. If you have any questions, we’d love to connect with you or catch up over coffee and run over them! Once you decide to book, we will share a copy of our contact for you to sign online.

before your wedding day

What deposit is required to secure my wedding date?

Once you’re ready to book in, we will share a copy of our contract and will secure your date with a 30 percent non-refundable booking fee. The balance is due 4 weeks prior to your wedding date.

How do you accept payments?

We accept payment either by bank transfer (preferred) or by debit / credit card. We are also more than happy to set up payment plans if that that better suits you - just have a chat to us about your options.

Can I upgrade my package later on?

Of course you can! We understand that priorities, values and wedding plans change - so if you decide to increase your 5 hour package to 8 hours, or add ceremony and speech edits to your highlights package, we can certainly accommodate. All we ask is that you try and give us a little bit of notice so we can prepare the extra gear or videographer that may be required for your new package.

Can we meet with you before the day?

We love meeting with our couples before the day! This is the best way to get to know eachother and make things as easy as possible on your day. As Mark and I also work full time, coordinating meeting times and places can sometimes be a little tricky - so if coffee, brunch, margaritas or locations don’t suit, we can definitely organise a Facetime call with you. Let’s meet up and chat all things weddings, details and get to know each other a little better!

questions for your wedding day

Who will be there on the day of our wedding?

This totally depends on the package you choose! Our photography packages include just one photographer (unless otherwise requested) and that will be Requelle. Our highlights film packages also include one videographer and that will always be Requelle. When you select our complete film package inclusive of the ceremony and speech edits, I like to bring Mark with me, where possible, so you have two videographers and multiple cameras rolling at the same time.

How do you work with our photographer/s?

We love working alongside your other wedding vendors to create some magic on your wedding day! If you have a wedding photographer, we will reach out to say hi and chat through working styles ahead of your wedding. Your photographer will most likely take the lead with your desired photo opportunities and locations on the day, and we’re cool with that! We prefer to work in the background, capturing moments as they happen... and not be too awkward or pose-y!

questions for after your wedding day

When will I receive my wedding photos?

After your wedding finishes, this is where our real fun begins! We head home after your wedding and transfer all of your wedding images over and back them up! In the day following your wedding we select and edit a handful of sneak peek images for you to share with your family and friends and on social media if you wish. We send these to you via an online gallery so you can download or share these easily. In the weeks following your wedding we cull and edit your entire wedding, providing you with full colour and black and white images within 6 weeks. We may also share a photo or two on our Instagram page so if you're not already, follow us here so you see them. Once complete, your online gallery will be updated to contain all of your wedding photos, and we post your wedding memories to your home address around 6-8 weeks following your wedding.

When will I receive my wedding films?

After your wedding day, is where our fun begins! In the week following your wedding, we usually post a sneak peek photo or snippet on our Instagram page. If you're not already, follow us here so you see it! Next, we start work on your highlight film. This is usually created and finalised within 4-6 weeks of your wedding. Your highlight film will be shared with you online via Vimeo. It's time to grab a glass of wine, a box of tissues and watch it up on the big screen. Once you've watched it, you can post a copy of your wedding film online, or share this with your family and friends.  Finally, all of your final films will be delivered to you on a beautiful custom USB within 6-8 weeks of your wedding date. As soon as your wedding films are ready, I will be in touch to share postage and tracking details with you.

Can I post my photos or videos to social media?

Yes, we’d love that! We’d love for you to tag us @requelleaiken_films on any of your posts so that we can see them - this really helps our small business. We kindly ask that you do not modify your photos or films prior to posting. For films, we would love for you to share the highlight film that is posted to Vimeo with your family and friends, however we also provide you a social media edit of your film that is 60 seconds in length and perfect for your instagram page! Our highlight films and social media edits contain music licensed through Musicbed, which allows the films to be safely shared online - unlike those with unlicensed music, which have heavy copyright restrictions.

Can I have a copy of the raw footage from the day?

Raw footage is unprocessed, ungraded, copyrighted and generally not that beautiful to watch (nor an accurate representation of our final product), so we choose not to share raw footage from our weddings. We do create ‘raw’ footage edits though and often create these edits for our clients. The footage is edited to remove the bits where nothing is happening (i.e. signing the paperwork, changing reception speakers or eating), then it is colour graded and edited to create beautiful ‘raw’ edits that are cohesive and much more enjoyable to watch back. If there is something specific you would like captured, for example, if you have a special tradition you would like captured, please let us know so we can factor this in and provide the extra edits! We are so ready to be part of that.
